Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka is a major exporter of tea account for 21% of world exports. Sri Lanka has over two millions two hundred thousand hectares under tea cultivation yielding over two hundred and forty thousand tones of tea. When in 1972 the island changed is name from Ceylon to the more traditional Sri Lanka it retained the name Ceylon for the marketing of its teas.

Ceylon tea is divided into three categories, low grown (up to 2000 ft above sea level), medium grown (2000-4000 ft) and high grown (greater then 4000 ft). Each level produces teas of unique character. Tea from the different regions are often blended which Ceylon tea a wide range of flavor as well as color. Ceylon blends are known for their brisk full flavors and bright golden color.

Ski Lanka's geographical location allows Ceylon tea to be plucked year around.
