Malawi
In the 1880's Malawi was the first country in Africa to start commercial tea production and is responsible for its spread throughout the continent. Today Malawi produces over thirty five thousand tones a year and has about 4% of world wide tea exports.
Although Malawi tea are not well known as specialty teas, there excellent color and taste means they are often used in many leading blends.
